The initial inspiration of Vehanakarin was the idea of creating a detective story around the Kinnara creatures and Himavanta forest of Hindu and Buddhist Mythologies whilst also incorporating a magic system based on Thai dark magic practices. The setting of Himavanta was inspired by the Himavanta forest combined with the architectural aesthetics of 1930s-1940s Thailand.

With this story, I wanted to explore the corruption of police force by a higher "figure of authority" as well as to represent some of the under-appreciated parts of Thai culture in a new and interesting light.
